A turn around brought by a phrase "give it a try"
Many people's impression of students admitted to the UK's G5 is that they must have a dazzling start and a firm goal. However, my starting point is far from this.
-In the class, my position is "in the middle of the pack", neither at the bottom nor at the top;
- Class understanding is okay, but problem-solving always lacks that crucial "hand feel";
-Not a lack of ability, but the state is always a little short, it is difficult to achieve the ideal level.
Back then, every exam felt like "fighting against the weight", I couldn't grasp the core even after repeatedly studying the questions, and the test papers often seemed chaotic. Self-doubt quietly grew: had I chosen the wrong path? It was during this period of confusion that I met Jinqiu International. The initial idea was simple - to seek a breakthrough in academic performance, to improve the current scores.
Little did I know that this seemingly simple "give it a try" decision would become a turning point in my life. The changes were far more than just a score; my learning pace, overall condition, and even the direction of my future became gradually clear and defined.
02
Find your own learning "frequency".
As an exchange student, I had expected to endure tremendous adjustment pressure: whether I could keep up with the pace of the classes? Whether I could integrate into the group? Reality, however, turned out to be unexpectedly smooth.
The curriculum system of Jinqiu International is flexible, offering a variety of duration options, including one-year and one-and-a-half-year programs, which can accurately match students with different foundations and goals. Based on my past performance and a state assessment, my mentor recommended that I choose the one-and-a-half-year program, ensuring sufficient preparation time while avoiding a pace that was too relaxed.
After entering the class, the tolerance and friendliness shown by the teacher and classmates quickly allowed me to integrate into the learning environment. The pace is moderate, and the pressure is just right - for the first time, I truly realized, "Learning can also be a comfortable experience."

03
Be seen, cared for, guided.
In the past traditional educational environment, I often felt like just another "symbol" among many students, and teachers rarely truly understood my individual needs. However, at Jinqiu International, I felt the respect of being "seen".
The headteacher pays meticulous attention to my homework completion progress and learning status every day. After each mock exam, she does not simply say "try harder," but instead has in-depth communication with me, analyzing the specific reasons for the fluctuations in scores. For example, "This time, there were many losses in grammar, could it be that you have not invested enough in grammar practice recently?" This meticulous "insight" brings me an unprecedented sense of security.
My mentor, on the other hand, is more like my " academic career strategic advisor." During our regular one-on-one meetings each month, she integrates my mock exam results, target institutions, and learning status to continuously fine-tune my study abroad planning. Even in language learning, she strictly urges me to progress with the training as planned to ensure it does not become my weak point.
Every time I finish a conversation with my mentor, I always manage to rekindle my fighting spirit, firmly believe in "I can do it," and feel the solid support of "not fighting alone."

Subject teacher: Accompany me from "can't" to "A*"
Math teacher: A steady guide
I personally appreciate the beauty of the logic in mathematics, but I often make mistakes in actual combat, which makes me afraid of it. The math teacher at Jinqiu International has tailor-made a detailed learning path for me: from consolidating the foundation, classifying question types, to simulating actual combat, sorting out the outline. She accompanied me to overcome each type of question one by one, without missing any potential pitfalls.
She often said, "It's okay to take your time, as long as we are moving forward." This confidence supported me, and step by step, I finally won the A* award.
Physics teacher: A patient and wise explainer
The knowledge of physics subjects is complicated, and the logical chain is extremely high. Whenever I send him difficult problems, he never directly gives the "standard answer", but instead analyzes the physical principles behind the problem-solving ideas in depth, and connects the relevant knowledge points.
I deeply feel that he is not only "teaching me to solve problems", but also "guiding me to understand the laws of the world". This rigor and patience have also inspired my strong interest in physics, and ultimately helped me achieve a good A grade.

Study abroad planning team: support, but also companionship
I am naturally prone to anxiety, especially during the preparation of the UCAS application, to the point of being "overly cautious about everything".
I remember one time, I even worriedly asked my teacher, "What if I submit my UCAS application at 2am (UK time, outside of working hours), will it not be recorded because the UK is still asleep?" It may seem naive in retrospect, but that anxiety was real, and it troubled me all afternoon.
But the teacher did not brush it aside, but instead explained the workings of the UCAS system in detail and guided me step by step in preparing all the details before submission. The feeling of being taken seriously and having my questions patiently answered greatly alleviated my senseless tension.
There were many times when I was panicking about "not being able to pass the exam" and "no hope anymore", the teachers always calmly helped me analyze and come up with solutions: "If this score does not meet the expectations, we can activate Plan B, or make up through other means." They did not encourage me to escape, but let me understand that "there is a way out". This sense of security brought by "having options" has become the biggest motivation for me to persevere.

Little partner: peers and support group
On the journey of learning, having a group of like-minded companions is an invaluable treasure.
We spontaneously formed a study group, and we insisted on checking in daily, solving problems, and reviewing. This was not only to supervise each other but also to inspire each other. When a difficult problem had me stuck for several days, the group members would always come to my aid in time; when I was in a low state, someone would always pat me on the shoulder and say, "Come on, let's go out and relax a bit, eat something."
Now, we have both entered our desired universities, and this friendship still continues, even meeting up in the UK for gatherings.
The regular sharing sessions organized by the school with senior students have also benefited me a lot. Their sharing is sincere and down-to-earth, not about "how great I am", but honestly sharing "I used to be confused, but I got through it". This sense of "the previous generation has walked this road" fills me with confidence in future challenges.

After-school life: a charging station for the spirit
The days of preparing are extremely intense, sometimes repeating the same type of problem all day, and the brain is almost "crashing".
The rich extracurricular activities of Jinqiu International have become a great way to relax. The mentors often remind us, "You should learn to relax at the right time." With a try, I joined the badminton club. At first, I just wanted to move my body, but later I found that after each sweat, my body and mind were particularly comfortable, as if I had shaken off all the negative emotions.
On weekends, the teachers also organize activities such as mountain climbing, singing, and team building. I remember one outing to the suburbs, where we laughed and chatted all the way. Although we were physically tired when we returned, our hearts felt incredibly light. It is these activities that prevent my "examination life" from being completely occupied by questions and scores, and always inject energy into my continued progress.

Looking back on the journey, from that anxious and self-doubting starting point to today when I can confidently invest in my studies at UCL, every step has been challenging. However, I sincerely thank the过去的 myself who had the courage to say "give it a try", thank the platform and support provided by Jinqiu International, and thank all the people who have accompanied and guided me along the way.
Here, I not only reaped the dreamt Offer, but also completed a profound self-awareness: it turns out, I can do very well—just with appropriate methods, matching pace, and a team that truly understands and supports me.
The road ahead is still long, but I know, my heart is no longer afraid.
Depart from Jinqiu International, towards a broader world, setting sail!
